What is Toxic Splash ?
Toxic splash measures the number of chemical compounds released into rivers and lakes through our water system. In the case of the individual or household, this can be calculated by the number of chemical compounds in toiletries and cleaning products washed down the plughole every week.
Experts warn that by using conventional toiletries and cleaning products, we are inadvertently poisoning our water system. Chemicals are incorporated into countless consumer products, many of which are released into our water system every time we shower, bath or clean our homes. They do not break down easily and can form dangerous compounds when they degrade. Reports suggest that there are a number of chemicals in our water, which are a threat to nature and the environment. Most worryingly, there is evidence which suggests that these chemicals are already disrupting hormones in wildlife at current levels of pollution.
